Bio
Tony has over 15 years of experience in teaching and performing. Inspired by classic rock guitarists, Tony signed up at a local music store for guitar lessons at age 13 and has been "hooked" ever since. Tony has performed in every kind of musical situation. He started his professional career at age 16 playing in clubs and showcases with award-winning big bands and combos - among others. He received an "Outstanding Instrumentalist" award at the Reno Jazz Festival. Tony has performed with many bands and artists including Mike Clark (Herbie Hancock's Head Hunter's), Maynard Ferguson (trumpet), Bobby Shaw (jazz trumpet) and Jeff Buena (SF guitarist). Tony has studied improvisation with Randy Vincent (SSU faculty/Bebop and Beyond), Bruce Foreman (Bay Area guitarist) and jazz great Joe Pass. Tony has also studied jazz composition and arranging at Berklee. He is currently working on an audio engineering degree and is playing with local guitar duo "Hot House Jazz."

Method

Tony stresses giving his students tools to teach themselves as the ultimate goal. Reading music, scales, chord studies, and learning different styles are all part of being a well rounded player. "I can teach just about anyone to play guitar and have fun with it."
