Bio
Liz is a classically trained vocalist with a performance background in classical, gospel, rock, and pop music; as well as voice over work. Her vocal studies began with church choirs in her early years. In her mid teens Liz took a further interest in studying voice, and took private lessons from multiple vocal instructors in Colorado and California. In high school, she competed and was accepted into the All State Choir, which consists of the top 500 high school vocalists in the state of Colorado. However, Liz did not start her music studies with singing. She began her music studies as a young child playing both piano and violin, and continued her music education at Metropolitan State College in Denver, CO. For violin, Liz honed her skills in school honor orchestra and via private study. She has also competed in All State Orchestra competitions, winning multiple medals for both solo and duet violin performances. Liz has performed in bands Fluid, The Mythics, and Tiny Monster Invasion. Currently, she performs in 80s cover band Electra Kitty and is recording with the project Illusions Echo.
Method
Vocal: Liz understands there are unique qualities in every voice and strives to bring out the best qualities in the individual’s voice. With a contemporary curve, Liz designs a custom program for each individual including education about the anatomy of the voice and its care; classical vocal exercises; contemporary song studies; a touch of theory; and other activities to find and enhance the quality of each individual voice… “The vocal cords are muscles; with proper toning and conditioning, their strength can be heard.”
Violin: She is currently working with beginning violin students using the All For Strings series. This series is a combination of traditional folk tunes and classical music combined with theory studies. Her focus is on the basic techniques of posture, holding the instrument and bow correctly, correct use of the bow, and finger positions, in addition to basic music theory for violin. Liz is accepting beginning violin students only.
