Bio
At an early age, Brian chose to dedicate his life to music. He started by watching his older brother Alex play guitar and became intrigued by it. At the age of 11, Brian asked his brother to start teaching him. His brother agreed, but only on the condition that he start taking lessons once he became dedicated enough. After beginning lessons with 20-year veteran Skip’s instructor Tommy Armstrong-Leavitt (who taught Brian’s older brother before him), Tommy turned Brian on to the Skip’s Music Stairway to Stardom program. After entering the 2003 Stairway to Stardom season, Brian became a part of the band Malevolent, which to this day is still playing shows with National and International metal acts such as Vader, Kreator, Diecast, and 3 Inches of Blood.
Brian enjoyed Stairway to Stardom so much, that he entered the 2004 season as well. He and his 2004 band Nephilim were randomly chosen by the Sacramento Bee to be followed throughout the duration of the program, and featured in an ongoing article. Coincidentally, Nephilim won first place in the competition. Nephilim remained a force in the Sacramento metal scene for several years, touring and performing with many acclaimed national acts.
