Bio: Jimmy has been playing bass for 25 years and teaching for over ten years. He started in high school and continued to
major in music at Triton college in Chicago. He also attended the Chicago conservatory of arts, where producer Mike
Varney of Shrapnel Records discovered him. Jimmy became a vital part of several acts on Shrapnel, including Cacophony,
Marty Friedman (Megadeath), Jason Becker (David Lee Roth), Dean Castranova (Ozzy Osbourne, Journey), and Michael
Lee Firkins (The Michael Lee Firkins Band, Howling Iguanas). Jimmy has toured worldwide on several occasions support
ing many of Shrapnel’s top artists. Jimmy has appeared on MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball with Curb records recording artist
“Eyes.” Locally, Jimmy has played with several acts including the SAMMIE hall of fame’s Funkengruvin.
Method :
Jimmy helps his students build a strong foundation focusing on technique and creativity emphasizing the balance between
rhythm and melody. He believes this will give his students the confidence to interact with other musicians, no matter what
their current level.
