Bio
A Sacramento native, Pauly started playing guitar approximately thirty years ago. Skip himself provided the guitar and synthesizer for Pauly's first performance in the mid 70's as the musical support for a school play. Starting with piano then moving to guitar, it became clear early on that art and music were going to be an integral part of Pauly's life. After years of playing and building guitars, he still plays the third one he ever built with the help of legendary luthier Gary Cooper. This same guitar also participated in one of the first Stairway to Stardom programs, back when it took place in the Skip's Music front parking lot! This guitar, known as the "Secret Weapon," has since accompanied Pauly on many tour/club gigs, and now on occasion, to his teaching studio at Skip's music. Pauly has been teaching privately for the past seven years. Some of these students have participated and placed in the Skip's Music Stairway to Stardom music education program---a program that Pauly supports as a mentor/coach. His musical education includes the University of California and State University systems, G.I.T., and professional clinics and guitar workshops. As a professional musician, Pauly has played under Bruce Davidson, a Bay Area blues/jazz heavyweight where many of his chops were honed. Pauly has also been the lead guitarist for bands locally and across the state. He has supported acts such as the Tubes, Molly Hatchet, Rick Derringer, Jeff Healy, and Ronnie Montrose, to name a few. Ian Samwell (British rock Producer, 1937-2003) was a friend and neighbor of Pauly's, and would occasionally bring by company such as Eric Burdon, to play music and discuss life. Pauly says, "As a student of life and the arts, this is what it is all about and I want to keep the faith alive, I want to pass it on!." Pauly is currently collaborating with writing, arranging and playing in a project soon to be announced.
